Who am I?
I'm George Siosi Samuels, an award-winning, entrepreneurial community-builder. I coined the term "meta-community" in the context of Web3 and the metaverse, and now specialize in it as a niche. I've founded two companies (Faiā and Honā), successfully raised investment from Silicon Valley billionaire Tim Draper, and was in the Top 10% of instructors accepted into Maven.com. I also helped introduce blockchain to the government of Tuvalu, a small island nation in the South Pacific, who are now planning to "move to the metaverse." I've been featured by the likes of Business Insider, ABC Radio, Yahoo! Finance, Rest of World, Discover Magazine, Tech Asia, Slack, and the Bitcoin Association.
What's my philosophy?
A company’s outside reality is often influenced by its internal culture. A company’s internal culture is often reflected [and/or influenced by] the tools used daily by its employees. When you fix internal issues, you fix a lot of external issues naturally as a consequence. Externalized communities are often a reflection of its original founder, or a result of its loudest voices - so choose wisely. Meta-communities are not only about "communities of communities" (e.g. ecosystems), but can also be communities being built for Web3 or the metaverse. Ideally, they are interconnected communities being built on-chain.

Thanks to George’s thought leadership and drive, Slack was rolled out across Iress in 2018. It completely transformed how we communicated in the business. Furthermore, tight integration with Zoom, monitoring/alerting systems and internal services such as IT and HR, resulted in a seamless experience for everyone. George spearheaded the whole initiative and ensured he had the full support of our Exec team, which is so important when driving change and seeking adoption.
I’d say the best evidence of just how important and successful this rollout had been, was how seamless it all felt when the Covid pandemic hit us. Despite the world going through a difficult time, from a workplace technology perspective we were able to operate remotely without a glitch and Slack was at the heart of it. It certainly was one less thing to worry about, and looking around at how many companies were struggling with this, I realised we were very privileged to be in such a strong position.
